Hire the Village Hall or Pavilion

Little Berkhamsted Village Hall is a characterful building in the centre of the village opposite the recreation field.

It is suitable for a wide range of events. Private parties, public meetings, charitable and fundraising events, child-based activities, keep-fit and dance classes, lectures, quiz nights, bridge competitions, weddings and christenings have all hired the hall.

The hall was given to the village by the family of Brodie Henderson, a village resident, in 1938. It is owned and managed by the Parish Council. In 2023 it underwent refurbishment works with insulation, secondary double glazing and LED lighting installed and internal redecoration.

The hall measures 10m by 6m and can accommodate up to 70 people standing and 60 seated. Included in the hire price is use of the fully equipped kitchen, including cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle and water urns and there are collapsible trestle tables and stacking chairs.

The hall has Broadband access, a rolldown screen and overhead projector.

There are two toilets one of which is accessible for wheelchair users.

Free parking is available opposite the hall on the village recreation ground.

How To Hire the Village Hall

To book the hall or pavilion, please complete the booking request form below and a member of our team will be in touch as soon as possible.

BEFORE COMPLETING THE FORM: Please follow the steps below.

Step one: Please contact Sandie on 01707 875221 to check availability. The calendar below will give you a guide to availability.

Step Two: complete the booking request form. Please state the start time (including set up time) and end time (including time required to tidy and clear).

Step three: Once your booking has been confirmed, please make payment. Please see Payment instructions to the right of the page.

Hire Charges

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total hire charge is due on successful booking confirmation, with the final balance to be paid no less than 3 weeks prior to event.

Hire FAQs

Is there car parking available?

Yes. You and your guests may park on the field in the centre of the village opposite the hall. Please confirm that you wish to do this when booking and the gate will be opened for you. Parking is under the trees and the grass is underlaid with rubber matting.

Can I visit before I book to see if the venue is suitable?

We welcome prior visits to the hall or pavilion to ensure it is what you want for your event. Please contact Sandie Ash on 01707 875221 to arrange your visit.

Can I arrange a Bouncy Castle for my party?

Unfortunately a Bouncy castle cannot be inflated inside the hall or pavilion. A Bouncy Castle can go outside on the field by the pavilion. There will be a small additional charge for the electrical hook up.

Is there WiFi available?

There is free WiFi at the village hall but not at the pavilion.

Are there facilities for the disabled?

The hall is fully accessible for those in wheelchairs, and there is a large lavatory especially equipped for the disabled . There are no significant floor level changes inside.

The pavilion has step free access through the side door. There is an accessible toilet and no floor level changes inside.

Can I serve alcohol?

If you intend to provide alcohol at an event for which money changes hands at any point, you will need a licence.

If alcohol is provided at the event completely free of charge, no licence is required.

If you wish to have the bar open in the pavilion please contact Martin Squirrell 07557 67280 to ask if this can be arranged.

How much clearing up do I need to do?

We expect that all tables will be clean and floors swept, food and rubbish to have been removed.

Please arrange to bag up your rubbish and take it with you. Remember to bring black bags with you – they are not provided.
