Little Berkhamsted Pantomime 2019

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, 14 & 15 December 2019

An adaptation by Stewart Auty of the original story by L Frank Baum

This year’s Panto Season brought the much heralded return of The Little Berkhamsted Players, with a delightful production of ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’. Three performances, including a Sunday matinee, were played to full houses, as they created a marvellous interpretation of this classic tale.

The Village Hall was transformed into an enchanting theatrical wonderland, as Dorothy is swept away to a magic land of Munchkins, witches and wizards. As she sets off down the yellow brick road with Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, each twist and turn of the much loved plot unfolded to the audience’s delight. The cast were a joy, each performing their songs with great style. The established ‘seasoned troupers’, many playing multiple parts, were joined this year by young newcomers Jack, Sienna and Reuben who played the Munchkins beautifully. The whole ensemble, the stunning costumes and scenery were all excellent.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this most enjoyable and worthy event, whose proceeds from ticket sales raised nearly £500 in aid of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. Lastly, thanks to the Director, Sandie Ash, whose energy and artistic skills once again provided a spectacular festive feast of fun and laughter.
