Little Berkhamsted Public Rights of Way
The following description of footpaths (FP) and bridleways (BR) in the parish is based on the definitive statement of rights of way maintained by Hertfordshire County Council. This description has been updated to correct inaccuracies in the definitive statement and reflect present names and landmarks.
1 FP
Commences at junction with BR18 at Howe Green thence west to Bedwell Avenue
and parish boundary.
2 FP
Commences at junction with BR18 opposite Ashfield Cottage thence west to
Bedwell Avenue and parish boundary.
3 FP
Commences at junction with county road Robins Nest Hill south of Little
Culverwood thence generally west skirting south boundary of Culverwood
and past Longacres Wood and Dye Bottom Cottage to junction with BR18
east of Ashfield Cottage.
4 FP
Commences at junction with main road Lower Hatfield Road (B158) east of
Woolmer Park South Lodge, thence south to junction with BR18. Recommences
from BR18 approx 60m south of previous junction thence south past Kennel
House to junction with BR18 east of Ashfield Cottage.
5 FP
Commences at junction with county road Robins Nest Hill near Little Culverwood
thence east past Park Cottage to junction with BR20 at Little Stockings.
6 FP
Commences at bend in county road Stockings Lane opposite paddock of Culverwood
Farmhouse thence northeast to parish boundary towards Bayford Hall.
8 FP
Commences at junction with county road Church Road opposite Five Horseshoes
PH at Little Berkhamsted thence southwest to junction with BR22 by Recreation
Ground.
9 FP
Commences at junction with county road Church Road south of St. Andrew’s
Church thence east alongside churchyard to junction with county road Bucks
Alley south of The Tower (Stratton’s Folly) thence east past Garden
Cottage thence northeast to parish boundary opposite Bayford Wood.
10 FP
Commences at junction with county road Church Road north of Bush Farm thence
northeast to junction with county road Bucks Alley and FP9 south of The
Tower (Stratton’s Folly).
11 FP
Commences at junction with county road next to 31 Church Road thence northeast
to junction with FP10. Recommences from FP10 approx 20m southeast of
previous junction thence southeast through Bucks Alley Wood to junction
with BR23.
12 FP
Commences at junction with county road Church Road opposite FP10 north
of Bush Farm thence northwest to junction with BR22.
13 FP
Commences at junction with county road Tylers Causeway between Tylers Cottage
and Langates thence north and northeast to junction with BR22 south of
Henderson Place.
14 FP
Commences at junction with county road by Beehive PH at Epping Green thence
northeast to junction with BR23.
15 FP
Commences at junction with county road by Epping Green Stud Farm and Longbourne
Stud thence southwest to parish boundary and county road Tylers Causeway.
17 BR
Commences at junction with Little Berkhamsted Lane by Lodge next to Danes
thence northwest past Danes Farmhouse to junction with county road Bedwell
Avenue by Sandpit Lodge at parish boundary and junction with Essendon
BR25.
18 BR
Commences at junction with county road Little Berkhamsted Lane passing
between Breach House and Lavender Cottage thence northwest through gate
and along hedge to join BR19. Proceeds north to junction with FP3 and
FP4 east of Ashfield Cottage, then west past junction with FP2, then
north past junction with FP1 and northeast to finish at county road Lower
Hatfield Road (B158).
19 BR
Commences at junction with Robins Nest Hill by Trewinnard House and The
Well House thence north along Breach Lane thence northwest to junction
with BR18 opposite spinney.
20 BR
Commences at junction with BR21 northeast of Culverwood House thence northwest
and north to junction with FP5 near Little Stockings.
21 BR
Commence at junction with county road Lower Hatfield Road (B158) by Bunkers
Quarry opposite Water Hall thence southeast past Stockings Farm thence
west and south past junction with BR20 thence south to junction with
county road Stockings Lane and FP6.
22 BR
Commences at junction with county road Little Berkhamsted Lane opposite
Danes thence southeast past Recreation Ground thence south and then past
Henderson Place to junction with county road through Epping Green by
The Old Post Office.
23 BR
Commences at junction with county road Bucks Alley southeast of The Gage
thence southwest past Bucks Alley Cottage thence southeast past Bucks
Alley Wood and south of Bucks Farm thence south and southeast to parish
boundary.
24 FP
Commences at junction with BR21 opposite Stockings Farm thence south to
junction with FP6.
25 BR
Commences at junction with county road Lower Hatfield Road (B158) by Waterhall
Farm thence north to parish boundary and junction with Hertingfordbury
BR2.
26 BR
Commences at parish boundary at junction with Essendon BR25 thence north
along parish boundary to junction with county road Lower Hatfield Road
(B158) by Hertford Lodge.
